It has been rumbled to make it smooth and give it an abraded surface that also helps give a better seal, plus removes all sharp edges. If your engine management light come on now and then, or losing power, then the EGR valve is most probably to blame. It fit's the MK7 and Fit's between the egr cooler (gear box end) and the EGR valve. The EGR valve is not that easy to get at, so the plate is slotted to
